De nautisch-industriële historie van de NDSM
De Nederlandsche Dok en Scheepsbouw Maatschappij (NDSM) was halverwege 20ste eeuw de grootste scheepsbouw- en scheepsreparatiewerf in Nederland. Hier gleden honderden schepen te water, van vracht- en passagiersschepen tot mammoettankers, die in twee helften werden gebouwd. In de jaren tachtig verdween de scheepsbouw echter uit Amsterdam.
Stichting NDSM-Herleeft zorgt voor het behoud van de roemrijke geschiedenis, brengt haar in kaart en maakt haar weer zichtbaar. In het bezoekerscentrum vindt u een schat aan gereedschap, foto’s, memorabilia en ander NDSM-materiaal uit de glorietijd van de bruisende scheepswerf. Ook zijn er op afspraak presentaties mogelijk.
The nautic industrial history of the NDSM
Mid 20th century, the Netherlands Dock and Shipbuilding Company was the largest ship building and repair yard of the Netherlands. Hundreds of ships were launched here from cargo and passenger ships to Very Large Crude Carriers built in 2 halves. However, in the 1980s the ship building disappeared from Amsterdam.
Stichting NDSM-Herleeft (‘NDSM Revives’) takes care of preservation of the illustrious history, records it and makes it visible again. In its visitor centre you find a treasure of tools, photos, memorabilia and other NDSM materials from the glory years of the bustling shipyard. Presentations can be held by appointment.
