Onderwijzer in hart en nieren

In hartje Jordaan is een uniek literair museum gewijd aan Theo Thijssen. In zijn geboortehuis maakt u kennis met leven en werk van de schrijver van Kees de jongen, dat na honderd jaar nog steeds veel gelezen wordt. Zijn boeken gingen vaak over mensen in de arme wijken van de stad.

Naast schrijver was Thijssen ook schoolmeester, socialistisch politicus en vakbondsman. Dit museum geeft aandacht aan de geschiedenis en de actualiteit op de thema’s die Thijssen aan het hart gingen.

Educator in heart and soul

Right in de middle of the Jordaan area is a unique literary museum dedicated to Theo Thijssen. In his birth house you get to know life and work of the author of A boy called Kees, that is still read a lot after a hundred years. His books often were about people in the poorer areas of the city.

Apart from writer, Thijssen also was a school teacher, a socialist politician and a trade union man. This museum pays attention to the history and current affairs within the themes that Thijssen considered important.
