De pianola bestaat sinds 1900, de geautomatiseerde vorm van de piano. Hij werd snel wereldwijd geliefd, want zonder muzikaal talent in huis kon je toch allerlei muziek op je piano laten spelen. Op rollen van papier met gaatjes is het spel van de grootste pianisten en componisten vastgelegd, in klassieke stukken, maar ook in jazz en ragtime.
Maar wie kent de pianola nog? U kunt de opmerkelijke instrumenten zien en horen spelen tijdens rondleidingen en concerten in het Pianola Museum. Het heeft zeer veel instrumenten en een archief met meer dan 40.000 muziekrollen!

The automatic piano was introduced around 1900. It became immensely popular all over the world because it made a wide repertoire of piano music available for the listener at home. Long strips of perforated paper represent the playing of the greatest pianists and composers, in classical music as well as in jazz and ragtime.
But who still knows the pianola today? You can see and hear these remarkable instruments during tours and concerts in the Pianola museum. It houses many instruments and an archive of more than 40,000 music rolls!
